Spending hours blowing drying your hair in Summer is a ‘no go’.Since the humidity and heat will probably transform your bouncy blow drying hour into a limp mess, it’s best to stick to the basics. Leaving your hair to air dry will help prevent heat damage, if you hair is particularly thick then try drying it for half the time and let the air do the rest. To achieve natural texture to the hair I recommend using sea salt sprays. You can either apply sea salt spray to damp hair and dry with a diffuser or to dry hair and dry naturally. Using minimal product will also help you determine which products are working for you.

Summer is almost here and it’s time to revamp your beauty closet. As the days are longer and our skin is in the sun for longer periods of time, the most important thing you can be doing is applying an SPF. Protecting your face if the most important as UVA is one of the main causes for premature aging in the skin. To keep your skin looking fresh and smooth, exfoliating at least once a week is crucial to buff off any dead skin cells and to speed up the skin renewing process.
Since the main choice of footwear for Summer is mostly sandals, it’s important to take extra care of your feet! Using callus treatments or soaking your feet in baking soda is a great way to soften up hard skin. You can pick up affordable pedicure treatments at Sally’s Beauty Supply, they sell everything you will need to pamper yourself without spending a fortune at the salon.
Using less heat on your hair in Summer is something that many women do when the Summer heat strikes, try using salt spray instead on your natural hair to achieve effortless beachy waves.
Which beauty products will you be using to amp up your Summer routine?
With the summer months starting, the ideal hair look is effortless and put together. You don’t want a heavy head of hair hanging down your shoulders in the high heat. Our go to style below is a tousled soft beach wave to give that effortless look but also say ” I’m ready for summer.”

Another great summer hairstyle we love is a low top knot. Twist your hair into a traditional top knot and move it down to the nape of the neck to create a chic casual look. This style is effortless but also gives a put together look with any outfit.

Completing the trio of styles we love this summer is the effortless side braid. A side braid is not only easy and quick to do it can also play up or play down an outfit depending on how messy or sleek the braid is. Definitely a staple this summer!

When it comes to beauty supply shopping there are many stores to choose from; Sally’s Beauty Supply, Ricky’s NYC, Sephora, CVS and Target, just to name a few. Depending on your budget you can really find some great products! Sephora is great if you are on the lookout ‘the next hottest product’ as they feature and regularly promote new launches. It can be quite intimidating when going into a store not knowing what you are looking for, Sephora’s ‘best of’ section (in which they feature the top sellers) is very helpful to use as a guide when buying. Before you plan your beauty shopping trip, my top tip would be to search the internet for reviews on sites such as Makeupalley and Beautylish. It’s written by bloggers, makeup artists and beauty lovers, the reviews are unbiased and very helpful! Of course everyone hates returning products so it’s good to know your stuff before you spend your hard earned cash!
Where are your favorite beauty stores to shop?
On the days that you just don’t feel pulled together, I’d advise you throw on a bold lip and go. It’s amazing what a simple lip color can do for the complexion. When it comes to picking a shade that will make the rest of your makeup look flawless; I’d advise you to take your skin undertone into consideration. The top picks for this Summer are bubblegum Pinks and Red/Oranges. If you have a Yellow undertone to your skin, you may go towards more of an Orange/Red shade. One of my all-time favorites is Nars Matte Velvet lip pencil in Red square. It comes in the form of a lip pencil which makes it more precise than the bullet of a lipstick.
When choosing a lipstick I recommend that you pick a lipstick with a matte formula, as they tend to wear well during the humid Summer months. Another top pick is Morange Amplified lipstick by Mac Cosmetics, It’s defiantly another one for warm toned skin girls and of course confident ones! Morange looks best when worn with a sweep of mascara and eyeliner, you don’t want to play up two looks at once!
If you are more of the fairer side you can defiantly rock this lip, it would just be very bold!If you have cooler toned skin you should lean towards Coral based Oranges for a more natural look. I’d recommend to go for Coral toned Orange such as Topshop’s lipstick in Charmed.
Which Lipsticks will you be rocking this Summer?
It all started with Christopher Kane’s see-through plastic clutch reminiscent of the 70′s lava lamps, now even Kim Kardashian is sporting the perspex sandal. With perspex neon accessories now seen everywhere from H&M to Valentino; it’s even easier to get your hands on the latest fashion-led pieces. Pairing up your new neon accessorizes with your everyday outfits should be fun! White is normally the best match but if you want go create come drama go for the opposite color, using a color wheel as your reference.
Burberry and Valentino strongly led the clear plastic fashion trend when it came to fashion week; at Valentino we saw an elegant chiffon dress paired with a structural plastic raincoat. Burberry’s designer Christopher Bailey worked in a bright perspex cape in with a body con pastel dress.

When it comes to budget beauty buys you can really find some great products that perform just as well as high end products. The drugstore can be overwhelming at times, that’s why it’s important to do your research! The site ‘Makeup Alley’ comes in use when referring to product reviews. It gives each product a 1-5 star rating and users can add their own reviews! I find it very helpful when I want a non biased opinion.
Revlon make great products that perform just as well as most high end brands, I am currently a big fan of their Color burst lip gloss in ‘Bellini’. Bellini is a milky toned peach gloss with slight shimmer. It looks equally as beautiful applied alone or over lipstick.
Drugstore skincare can be more challenging, as most drugstore products don’t contain a good SPF as well as beneficial ingredients . The Olay Total effects daily moisturizer is one of my favorites as it’s Non-Comedogenic, oil free and has a ton of antioxidants.
When buying a moisturizer it’s always important to try to find one that does more than just hydrate your skin but if you are just in the market for a moisturizer that just hydrates the skin, then I would recommend Cetaphil as it is fragrance free and contains no lanolins or parabens.
Splurging on items such as mascara is a ‘no no’ as they dry out within 3 months. Maybelline and L’oreal make some of the best mascara I’ve tried. L’oreal Telescopic and Maybelline The Rocket volum’ Express are some of my top picks!
Which drugstore products do you rate?
If you think the smokey eye is just made for black eye shadow, think again! Last night’s Met costume gala called for some stand out eye looks and with a theme like Punk:Chaos to Couture it’s not hard to see why all the makeup looks were so bold. Kristen Stewart’s makeup artist used a Cranberry Red with Black kohl pencil to define around the eyes while Elle Fanning went all out with a colorful winged eye shadow blended up to the brows.

Want to know something cool? You can use a common household item for amazing beauty uses! It’s a lemon!
Lemons can be used for the following surprising but awesome uses:
Fading age spots
For brighter, softer skin
To get rid of blackheads
As a toner
For an anti-wrinkle mask
Crazy, right? Who knew! We can’t wait to use our leftover lemons in our beauty routines!
Pantone declared emerald green the color of the year, and we couldn’t love their decision more! What gave the capital city of Oz its signature color is making a comeback!
Executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, describes this lush shade of green as “vivid, verdant and promoting balance and harmony”. Eiseman assured us that emerald can be easily applied to your wardrobe as well as to your interior design. Emerald is making its debut in many designers’ Spring 2013 collections, such as Tracey Reese and Nanette Lepore. Sephora is launching a 2013 Color of the Year Collection, appearing on shelves in March. Home good retailers, such as JC Penney, are incorporating Pantone Emerald into their product lines this season through bedding, accessories, pillows and towels.
Although retailers and designers have embraced Pantone’s color choice, this bold definitely received some mixed reviews in the fashion community. What do you think? Will you be “going green” in style this season?
