When it comes to budget beauty buys you can really find some great products that perform just as well as high end products. The drugstore can be overwhelming at times, that’s why it’s important to do your research! The site ‘Makeup Alley’ comes in use when referring to product reviews. It gives each product a 1-5 star rating and users can add their own reviews! I find it very helpful when I want a non biased opinion.

Revlon make great products that perform just as well as most  high end brands, I am currently a big fan of their Color burst lip gloss in ‘Bellini’. Bellini is a milky toned peach gloss with slight shimmer. It looks equally as beautiful applied alone or over lipstick.

Drugstore skincare can be more challenging, as most drugstore products don’t contain a good SPF as well as beneficial ingredients . The Olay Total effects daily moisturizer is one of my favorites as it’s Non-Comedogenic, oil free and has a ton of antioxidants.

When buying a moisturizer it’s always important to try to find one that does more than just hydrate your skin but if you are just in the market for a moisturizer that just hydrates the skin, then I would recommend Cetaphil as it is fragrance free and contains no lanolins or parabens.

Splurging on items such as mascara is a ‘no no’ as they dry out within 3 months. Maybelline and L’oreal make some of the best mascara I’ve tried. L’oreal Telescopic and Maybelline The Rocket volum’ Express are some of my top picks!

Which drugstore products do you rate?

If you think the smokey eye is just made for black eye shadow, think again! Last night’s Met costume gala called for some stand out eye looks and with a theme like Punk:Chaos to Couture it’s not hard to see why all the makeup looks were so bold. Kristen Stewart’s makeup artist used a Cranberry Red with Black kohl pencil to define around the eyes while Elle Fanning went all out with a colorful winged eye shadow blended up to the brows.

Which eye shadow colors will you be rocking this Summer?

Loving the Bob

We’ve seen tons of celebs rock this hairstyle, and recently Amanda Seyfried walked the Red Carpet with the look and we’re loving it! Guess what it is?! A long bob!

This is a ladylike look which nicely shapes your face and is pretty versatile. This style is definitely more convenient than a short bob, but is more dramatic than longer locks.

We love this look and think it’s a great cut for spring!

At the 19th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night, nail art was the beauty trend that stole the spotlight! Among the trendsetters at the awards show were Anne Hathaway, Sarah Hyland, and Kelly Osbourne.

One of the biggest stars of the night was Anne Hathaway, who won Best Supporting Actress in her role in Les Miserables.  Hathaway coordinated her nails with her stunning sheer black Giambattista Valli gown by painting the base color a bright white, and accenting a few fingernails with intricate hand-painted butterflies.

Sarah Hyland, star of one of our fave shows, Modern Family, took our breath away in a purple strapless Dolce and Gabbana dress. Not to take away from her purple perfection, Hyland chose a classic nude manicure, and dressed it up with tiny rhinestones. Love!

One of our favorite Fashion Police panelists, Kelly Osbourne’s nail decoration was true to her personality and complemented her glam rock studded black Jenny Packham dress perfectly.  Kelly went with an edgier heart design, accenting her nude nails with pointy black heart-shaped tip.

False eyelashes are worn by a countless number of stars on the red carpet, at A-list events, or just in day-to-day life. But now, we are seeing more and more people wearing them just for fun or just as a part of their makeup routine.

These lashes are totally luscious and add drama and beauty to your look. These lashes should be worn for no more than 48 hours and are a great way to hide dark eye circles or just look extra glam! Always remember to do the rest of your makeup first and apply the fake lashes last for the most seamless look.

Where’s your favorite place to rock fake lashes?

Pantone declared emerald green the color of the year, and we couldn’t love their decision more! What gave the capital city of Oz its signature color is making a comeback!

Executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, describes this lush shade of green as “vivid, verdant and promoting balance and harmony”.  Eiseman assured us that emerald can be easily applied to your wardrobe as well as to your interior design.  Emerald is making its debut in many designers’ Spring 2013 collections, such as Tracey Reese and Nanette Lepore.  Sephora is launching a 2013 Color of the Year Collection, appearing on shelves in March.  Home good retailers, such as JC Penney, are incorporating Pantone Emerald into their product lines this season through bedding, accessories, pillows and towels.

Although retailers and designers have embraced Pantone’s color choice, this bold definitely received some mixed reviews in the fashion community.  What do you think? Will you be “going green” in style this season?

It’s Electric!

Have you jumped on the electronic skin cleansing brush wagon yet?

These high powered brushes are not only a new trend, but they are great for skin. We tend to sometimes forget that beautiful skin starts with clean skin, and sometimes that requires work.

Especially after long days and many encounters with germs, dirt, and oil, our pores certainly could use a cleaning at the end of each day.

These electronic brushes cleanse skin much more thoroughly than using just our hands can, and many of these brushes even look cute, colorful, and chic.

We are fans of the Clarisonic Mia brush, which is sold at Sephora and comes in many colors and even some patterns.

This brush cleans your skin six times better than your hands alone can, lifting dirt, oil, and makeup from your pores every time you use it. At 300 gentle movements per second, it is surely a convenient as well as effective way to have beautiful skin.

The best part about this tool is that you can use regular cleansers with them that you can easily purchase at the drug store. We love using the Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser with our Clarisonics.

Remember that the first step to a fabulous face is a clean one!

Brazilian Beauty

We all know that Brazilian beauty is totally fabulous – from Brazilian blowouts to waxing treatments – but there is a new crazy surrounding this country!

Brazilian manicures are a new fad that are hitting salons everywhere. You may be asking what is it? We are here to tell you!

A Brazilian manicure is an intense manicure that focuses on the cuticles. After a luxurious paraffin soak your cuticles will be removed. This is to ensure that the nail is completely flat.

The interesting thing about these manicures is that not only the nail is painted, but the skin around the nail is as well to ensure the entire bed is coated and to make the manicure last longer.

After the painting is done, a special tool is used to wipe away any excess polish.

Then, voila! You’ve got yourself a fab manicure!

What do you think? Are you going to try this new treatment?

Have you heard about Drew Barrymore’s new makeup line?!

As if the star isn’t famous enough, with a career that spans over three decades as well as directing now under her belt, she has recently launched a makeup line that we’re nuts for!

The name of the line is Flower, and it will launch in Walmart stores in January. This is great news! Not too long of a wait!

Keep a look out for this makeup which is “luxurious” but at realistic price points, as low as under five bucks.

You’ll be sure to love this glam star’s new beauty digs in the new year!
