Making the Cut

Thinking of getting a major haircut to start off the new year with a new look? It’s a big choice and definitely a huge change! Going from long to short, even if it’s just for a bob look, is pretty life-changing.

Before committing to the new look, go to a wig store and try it out! It may seem silly, but it’s worth it to test drive your potential new hair.

Also, when you go to get your locks cut off, bring a picture of the hairstyle you’re going for so there is no confusion with your hair stylist. When you’re going short there is not a lot of wiggle room for fixing.

Finally, consider your lifestyle. If you work out a lot or don’t have much time in the morning to style your hair, maybe reconsider the cut. Remember that you won’t be able to put your new do in a pony tail!

What are your thoughts on major cuts? Intriguing and image changing or too dramatic for your tastes?

This winter, red lipstick is trending! According to Vogue, this shade is all the rage this season.

Red lips make quite the statement but are also elegant and super stylish! MAC cosmetics states that mixing reds is sometimes the key to formulating a perfect shade, using different lipsticks as well as lip pencils.

Also, consider these amazing shades this season: cranberry for the holidays, a shimmery pink to compliment the snow, gold for new years, and brown for a neutral look!

The cranberry shade can add a great pop of color to your face and appear to be super striking. Brown is an underrated color that can compliment a natural look. Wearing a shimmery pinks can create a winter wonderland effect and make you stand out. Shades of gold have gotten bad press because people think they clash with their skin tone, but are actually great to dress up or down depending on your outfit and schedule!

Finally, winter is the only time you can pull off black shades of lipstick, so rock the dramatic look while you can!

The Pantone Color of the Year has been announced and it is…..drumroll please…..emerald!

Emerald is such an elegant color and can be worn in a myriad of ways as far as makeup goes.

One of the cutest ways to rock this glam color is to do up your eyes in emerald shadow. Then, accentuate the color with accent jewelry pieces such as a statement necklace or earrings highlighting the color!

Expect to see emerald all over this upcoming year and be prepared to sport it!

There are some crazy eyeliner trends out there! From wings to electric colors in lieu of your standard black or brown, there are many different ways to wear the liner that are on the rise.

Hyper extended eyeliner on the top lids is a new thing, as is truly bold, thick lines. Even drawn on lashes have been seen on some celebs!

What do you think of this bold and sometimes crazy trend? Are you a fan or does it have you saying “No way!”?!

Go for the Gold!

Especially with the holidays coming up, a great color to adorn your eyes with is gold. Not only is gold a hot look, but it’s also as fabulous as can be, for several reasons at that!

First of all, it will warm up any skin tone. Next, it has many colors that accent it well, for instance a bright red lipstick is a great pairing or even fuchsia pink cheeks.

Gold can also be used to make a statement or portray a more subtle and flirty look, if that’s what you’re going for. This look can be sheer and glittery or have more of a copper, metallic feel. However you choose to wear the gold, be sure to rock it and show it off this season!

Chic Nails

Want a new look for your nails? You can do Black, Pink, Purple and even ombre! But if you want something different, yet not TOO out there try this look! Its a clean black look with a simple gold line through it. Maybe you want a summer look…well you don’t HAVE to go with the black and gold! Perhaps you could try it with a light pink and white line to give it a more summer feel.

black and gold.

Lets face it the summer heat and humidity does NOT do good things for our hair. Luckily there are some hot trends that allow us to get the hair out of our face and off of our backs this summer.

Try a sleek pony tail. This look is so simple yet so classic. In our opinion the higher pony tail the better. If you don’t want just a regular pony tail try curling the pony tail with your curling iron!

Fish tail braids are so in! The care free look is perfect for summer…and there is no need to have the perfect fish tail braid because the messy look is definitely in.

Try a nice top-knot bun. Let everyone see that pretty face of yours! Just twist it up and you are ready for a night on the town. This is a great day to night look.

Bored with your hair? We can all relate to this…but a great way to spice up your look is to add a little bit of color to your do! This creates a care free summer look. However, no permanent dye is necessary! You can achieve this look without actually dying your hair! The secret is hair chalk, this can be found at most beauty supply shops. The best part is the chalk comes in a variety of colors so you don’t have to choose to just one! Now you don’t have to worry about damaging your hair with dye, and you can wash it out whenever you please. You can apply the chalk to the ends of your hair or to your whole head if you want….the decision is yours!

Hair to the side is in. A hit amongst the many celebs at the Cannes Film Festival, whether curly or strait, hair to one side is the new in look of the season.
